Who do I have to inform about a death?

The best thing to do is to call either funeral director’s help line or that of the insurance company, which are available 24 hours a day. The Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza help line is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day on 971 392 000.

What happens between the time the person dies and the time they are buried or cremated?

When someone dies, they are usually at home, in hospital or in a residential home. In each case a doctor has to issue a death certificate and from this moment Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza will provide all the resources the deceased’s relatives need at their disposal, including professional staff, and facilities.

We provide immediate assistance when someone dies (we are available 24 hours a day), and will collect the body and take the deceased to the mortuary. Relatives will decide (or will have already decided) if they would like to hold a wake at the mortuary (this is true in the majority of cases) or, as in some cases, at home. They will also decide whether they would like any cosmetic treatment for the deceased, choose the clothes they would like them to wear for the funeral and other details, like the coffin they prefer.

We will arrange with you the best time for the body to go to the Chapel of Rest, for the funeral, and burial, (we will organise this with the parish Church and cemetery) on your behalf.

On the day of burial, when friends and relatives are gathered together at the mortuary, we will take the deceased by hearse to the chosen church or cemetery.

You can contact us on our help line, 24 hours a day if you have any questions.

Providing peace of mind to relatives is an important part of the service we provide.

How much does a funeral cost?

Each funeral is very different. The cost depends on the services you require and whether there is funeral cover included in the life insurance of the deceased, or if there is a funeral plan. Our basic service starts at 1450€ + 21% VAT, although most people add to this basic service according to their wishes and what they can afford. Contact us and we can give you a detailed estimate based on your needs.

Do I have to choose a whole range of services or can I just choose which services I need?

You don’t have to choose a whole set of services. It is always possible to change different parts of the service so that you can personalise your loved one’s funeral. Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza always offers you a comprehensive range of high quality services for you to choose from at a reasonable cost.

Do you provide any additional services?

Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza not only offers a wide range of standard services, but also additional services such as floral tributes, issuing death notices, urns for the ashes, legal advice, counselling etc.

Contact our Service department or contact us directly if you have any questions.

Do I have the right to know prices for funeral services in advance?

Yes, you do. In addition you have the right to see an itemised estimate, detailing the specific cost of each of the various options that you have chosen. AT Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza we always keep you clearly informed in this way, so that you are in no doubt about how much your chosen services will cost.

I have sometimes heard that there are cheaper Funeral Directors outside Ibiza. Is this true?

It is true that there are companies on the mainland that offer inexpensive funeral services. We too realise that this is a sensitive subject and a cause for public concern.

At Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza we also provide a basic funeral service at a very low cost, starting at 1450€.

The majority of our clients are unaware of the complexity of the processes surrounding a death and the number of staff and facilities that are required to provide the best service, which has been and will continue to be our pledge for the future.

In order to explain, it’s probably better to give an example. Half of all deaths happen in the family home. At Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza we have a team of people who work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so that they are able, within a very short space of time, to collect the deceased from their home. Quite often the bereaved are not aware of how quickly this is done. This is because at that particular moment the most important issue is coming to terms with their loss, which is how it should be.

Afterwards, many clients tell us about anxious they had been when they thought that Pompas Fúnebres Ibiza might not be open at the weekend, or at night, and they would have to keep the body at home during that time. Clients really value this service and are so grateful that we are able to arrive so quickly and deal with this difficult and sensitive situation with compassion and sensitivity.

Because of this, we know that the majority of our clients would prefer to pay a little more in order to receive this impeccable service at any time, when a loved one dies.

We would be happy to give you a detailed explanation of our services and the quality that we apply to every aspect of our work with you when you contact us.
